Video installation with live presence
Activities: Removal of silver from mirror; Drawing of video image with diamond point onto glass of monitor.
Duration: 4 days November 1998 Cambridge Darkroom, Cambridge
Taking material from the tidal site of a wrecked cargo boat at Prawle Point in Devon, the piece involved two elements:
Video footage of water entering the boat through a hatch projected on to a mirror, the silver of which was gradually scrapped away, allowing the image to partially pass through the glass and finally meet its other half - echoing the passage of the water itself.
Video footage shot underwater at the site was 'drawn with a diamond point on to the glass surface of the monitor.
